If an instructor believes the accommodation violates an essential function or learning outcome, they must contact the DRC with an explanation of how the accommodation alters an essential aspect of the course. Instructors must not to deny a student an accommodation prior to DRC review. If the DRC determines that the accommodation does violate an essential function, the DRC will work with the student and faculty member to determine if there is an alternative accommodation that would mitigate the impact of the disability without fundamentally altering the course or program.

Faculty roles in implementation are included in the notification of accommodations.

The most efficient and effective way to provide accommodations may vary by course. Instructors are encouraged to contact the DRC if they believe the implementation of the accommodation may need to deviate from the guidelines of implementation.
